Data Use Policy
What happens to a pitch deck you upload to Prelabz — what we do with it, who can see it, what we learn from it, and how to get rid of it. Written to be read in about two minutes.
Working draft, version 2026-08-08-draft.1. This wording is under review by our advisory and legal team, and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It reflects how Prelabz actually operates today; the final version may be worded differently. Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are published and carry the same version.

Your deck stays yours
Uploading a deck to Prelabz does not transfer any ownership of it, or of anything in it. It gives us permission to do four specific things, and nothing beyond them.
1. We analyse it for you
We read your deck, score it, and generate your report and coaching. To do that, its contents are sent to our AI provider for processing.
2. A person at Prelabz reads it
Your deck and its analysis are reviewed by named Prelabz staff before any conversation with you. We would rather tell you a human is involved than let you assume otherwise — most people hear “AI analysis” and reasonably conclude nobody sees it. Here, somebody does.
2a. Who is emailed your analysis
When your deck has been analysed, we email the analysis to you, and a copy to the Prelabz reviewers: Dennis McMahon, Alex Vo, Daniel Maneveld. That is what makes the human review above actually happen rather than being a promise.
It goes to nobody else. In particular it is not sent to whoever introduced you to Prelabz, and not to any investor. Being introduced by someone gives them credit for the introduction — it does not give them your analysis, and there is nothing you need to switch off to keep it that way.
If this list of reviewers changes, the wording you agreed to changes with it, so you will be asked again at your next upload rather than carried over. You can reply to any of these emails to have your deck and its analysis deleted.
3. We learn from it, anonymously
We derive patterns and benchmarks across every deck we see, and use them to give better advice to everyone using Prelabz — including companies that compete with you. We are direct about this because it is how the product gets better for you too.
Anything derived this way is aggregated across at least ten different companies and can never identify you, quote you, or be traced back to your company. No company names, no wording from your deck, and no figure specific enough to point at you.
4. We keep it while you have an account
Delete your deck or your account whenever you like. The file, the extracted text, the analysis, your coaching history and your record are removed from our live systems immediately, and from our providers’ backups within 30 days.
One honest exception: anonymous statistics already calculated across many companies cannot be pulled back out again. They contain nothing that identifies you, and we would rather say so than quietly imply a deletion is more complete than it is.
What we will never do
- Sell, rent or licence your deck, or anything that identifies your company.
- Show your deck, analysis, figures or score to another founder.
- Show it to an investor unless you tell us to, and tell us which one.
- Use it to compete with you.
What you’re confirming
By uploading, you confirm you have the right to share this material — that you are a founder, employee or authorised representative of the company it describes, or that you have their permission, and that you are entitled to share any third-party confidential information it contains.
Please don’t upload someone else’s deck without their authority. If material of yours has been uploaded by someone who shouldn’t have, contact us and we will remove it and tell you who uploaded it.
